Staying Chilled Out This Summer In Cool Maternity Wear

You just found out you are going to have a summer baby, and you’re worried about having to wear bulky maternity wear, which is neither flattering nor comfortable. Don’t fret! Fortunately, designers understand the need to create clothes that are breezy, made of versatile fabrics and shapes that not only complement your growing stomach, but also make you feel comfortable.

From dresses, to shorts, swimsuits and one-pieces, all the most flattering and comfortable clothes are at your disposable. Don’t let the heat get you down, feel light and breezy in these outfits, while showing off your baby bump. Here are few ways to stay cool this summer in maternity wear:

Breathe Easy

Opt for clothes that are made of ‘breatheable’ materials like cotton, lyrca or linen. Also, don’t shy away from trying on different styles, even if you haven’t in the past. You could try on flared skirts or asymmetrical hemlines or even bright colours.

Indulge in Print

If you are still making the rounds of your office, then choosing a chic geometric or Aztec printed dress is the way to go. They are both chic and comfortable. Repeating patterns is great way to flatter your silhouette as well as your baby bump. Try a wrap dress or a high-waist dress. It’s okay to show a little cleavage.

Keep Swimming

You can still look fantastic and be comfortable in the pool. Wearing horizontal striped or racerback swimsuits can add a bit a flair to your swim. A tankini accentuates your baby bump without making it too apparent. Also, you can opt for a swimsuit with a little bling, accents or convertible straps that add the extra comfort and fun element to the swimsuit. But if you prefer fabric that doesn’t stick to your body, you can try a loose fitted tankini.

Bottoms Can Be Comfy Too

Along with dresses, you can wear a pair of pants or shorts which have girdles attached to them. The lycra/ spandex material rests over the stomach and gives it the much needed support. Also, leggings are great when paired with a tank top or loose fitted t-shirts or kurtas.  You can also try belly bands which make it easier to wear your old pair of jeans or shorts.

Wear The Right Shoes

Besides clothes, shoes are also very important. Pair your dress/ jeans/ leggings with sneakers or cute sandals or flip-flops. Buy a few colours so you pair them with multiple outfits. Build your perfect summer outfit by mixing and matching.
