Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival we eagerly wait for every year. The colours, the music, the delicacies and the energy that brings people together–it’s unmatchable. And we go all out with our home decor ideas to prep for one of the biggest festivals of the year.

And here’s the good news: you don’t need an intense interior decoration project to get your house ready for the festivities. A few small changes, some interesting pieces and you’ll have completely upgraded your house! Read on to discover our special home decor ideas!

Pops of Colour

The smallest additions can have the biggest impact and our way to do it with some spectacular pops of colour. These artificial flowers will accompany fresh flowers to keep your house looking festive long after the festivities have ended.

Lights On

While the diya has always been considered auspicious  in any Indian festivities, we recommend replacing a traditional diya with a beautiful wall candle holder to create a dim lighting effect to illuminate the wall.  A lamp will add a gentle yellow wash of colour to your living room, much more aesthetically pleasing than bright white tube lights and compliment the brightness of the candle holder mounted on the wall.

The Puja Setup

The star of the room, the puja setup is going to be the focus in your living room decor. For the ganesha idol, skip the simple idols and go for  one with a fountain for a peaceful touch of nature in your setup. Choose a metallic diya instead of mud ones for the main aarti. We love the antique metallic finish! Lastly, make sure the puja area smells fresh and festive with incense stickshat not only make the room fragrant but also welcome positive vibrations in the house.

Mandap Drapes

Plain white walls around the puja mandap? Definitely not the festive best when it comes to interior decoration. Brighten up the background either with understated but elegant curtain in subtle gold tones or opt for bright coloured drapes with a delicate floral pattern.

Spruce Up With Cushions

Probably our favourite home decor idea is to add in lots of colourful cushions, everywhere! Not only do they act as an interesting interior decoration accessory, some festive cushions can completely change the vibe and aesthetic of your living room decor. We love the teal patchwork cushion with the Indian print, which can be complemented by a bolster . If you’re looking for warmer tones, the red and cream ethnic embroidered cushion  can be paired with a peach and gold embroidered cushion

The Festive Meal

No celebration is complete without a meal for the entire family and when you’ve spent hours making modaks and special amti, you need some beautiful dining and kitchen decor to present it. Decorate the table with a floral print table runner , complimented by muted placement mats  .Ganesh Chathurti is also the perfect time to invest in a new dinner set in a minimal, yet colourful design. We love elegant long glasses and a contrasting deep brown serving tray

With the festival season almost here, it’s time to upgrade your decor with some versatile pieces that can be used year long. Mix and match, take your pick, but make sure your house has the festive vibe for weeks to come!
