How To Know Your Skin Type

Taking care of your skin is like art. You need to know the basic trick, i.e., “know your skin type.” Knowing your skin type can help you understand how to take care of your skin, which products to use, which ones to avoid, how to solve some basic skin issues and many other things.

Before we get into how to identify skin type, let’s take a look at the different types of skins. There are five types of skins:

– Normal

– Dry/dehydrated

– Oily

– Combination

– Sensitive

Many factors (like, stress, usage of wrong products, pollution etc) influence and change your skin type.

Here are some methods that will help you understand “What kind of skin do you have?”

This method is considered to be the easiest way to find out what skin type you have, that can be examined on all skin types.

What you need:

– Blotting Paper

– Mirror

What to do:

– Wash your face a night before and do not apply any skincare products.

– Next morning, take the blotting paper and press it on your face especially – the T-zone, forehead, under eye, cheeks and jaw areas. Look at the mirror and use this method.

– Check the oil on the blotting paper.

Result:

– If the blotting paper has an excessive amount of oil, it means you have oily skin.

– If the blotting paper has excessive oil, but other areas feel tight and don’t have oil, it means you have combination skin.

– If the blotting paper has more or less, the average amount of oil in all areas, it means you have normal skin.

– If the blotting paper has little or no oil, it means you have dry/sensitive skin.

Result:

– If your entire face is shinier than morning, it means you have oily skin.

– If the T-zone looks shiny and the rest of the face is like morning, it means you have combination skin.

– If your skin looks the same as a morning, it means you have normal skin.

– If you see dry patches, little peeling or redness, it means you have dry/sensitive skin.
